Incredible Location!

★★★★★

We spent two nights here and I wish we could have stayed longer. The lodge is absolutely beautiful and so clean. It's absolutely private, too. Pepper Creek Cabin is down on the beach, but you don't hear or see that cabin from up on the cliff. Honestly, there aren't words to describe how incredible this place is. The views from the living room are breath taking. We enjoyed dinner and a fire out on the cliff. Definitely take the kayaks out and paddle around! It's so peaceful. We saw eagles and a sea otter. No whales, but it sounds like lots of other people see them out there! We loved talking to Jeff and hearing more about how he built the lodge. This is truly a special place. There are so many thoughtful details, too, like the great coffee and snacks! Hot showers, fluffy towels and very comfortable beds. Thanks for sharing it with us, Jeff! Jeff isn't kidding when he says to be ready to haul your stuff! The steps are steep, so pack in backpacks not rolling suitcases. The view at the top is absolutely worth the trip up the stairs!

Fabulous Cabin with incredible view

★★★★★

Wow! If you want seclusion, beautiful views, comfortable place to stay, and a unique Alaska experience, this is a perfect spot! It really is quite the engineering feat. Aside from needing to use the outhouse outside, everything in the cabin is so comfortable and convenient (hot showers, running water, comfortable beds and couches, huge windows, kitchen appliances, outdoor grill with everything you need, and a great supply of pantry items, spices, and drinks, including GOOD coffee). It rained for a good chunk of our stay but we still enjoyed the time overlooking the water (saw one sea otter just below) and reading and talking in the cabin. In good weather the fire pit is great. We enjoyed talking with Jeff about how he built it, too. Highly recommended! I would not bring young children because of the cliffs and all the steps, though.

Idealic setting to create memories for a lifetime

★★★★★

My family of 5 stayed in Jeff's Granite Point Lodge for three nights. We will have lasting memories of cooking smores out by the fire overlooking Resurrection Bay. The kayak trips to Humpy Cove and Thumb Cove were breathtaking. The lodge itself is well constructed and save the hike to the outhouse, all the creature comforts were available to us. We grilled salmon one night as we watched the whales and sea otters and listened to the chirping eagles overhead. Plan on quite a workout getting your luggage and supplies up and down to and from the lodge. I recommend bringing boots or water shoes to wear while kayaking. We paid extra for the water taxi to give us a tour of the area. They took us to a nearby rookery and to the mouth of the bay where we saw a pod of approximately 10 humpback whales hunting. It was an incredible sight and sound. I highly recommend Granite Point Lodge and it's owner Jeff.

Simply amazing family Vacation

★★★★★

I have two little children, 7 and 4 and we were looking for an authentic Alaska vacation with a few more luxuries than typical (shower and power). This place is truly one-of-a-kind. We took the train from Anchorage to Seward and then a boat right to the house. Right when we pulled onto the shore we knew we picked the right spot. The house was perfect, and they even had a bunch of items we forgot (hot chocolate!). We took the kayaks out every morning to fish and whale watch. We caught 100's (really, 100's) of delicious rock fish, I pulled in a nice size halibut (yup, from the kayak) and whales and dolphin's swimming right next to us was a daily occurrence. We hiked up the stream many times and other than boats coming in and out of the bay, no one was around for miles. The cell phone booster was also a bonus (I had never cleaned a halibut, so I was able to watch a youtube video). Everything about this place is amazing... you can't go wrong.

A retreat on the bay!

★★★★★

Like you're climbing up into a tree house, and then you arrive at this amazing lodge perched on a cliff! We set up our food in the kitchen, grabbed a brew and returned to the beach for some horseshoes and paddling. Back to the lodge for an outdoor campfire and vast views of the bay. Hung out, relaxed, and watched whales. Dope surround sound system in the lodge. Great hike up through the woods- found a lake! Fantastic spot. Highly recommend this gem on the bay. The water taxi ride adds another adventure!

Marvelous Escape!

Girls weekend get-away adventure. All three of us were a little anxious about the climb up the stairs to the lodge - but were thrilled to find it easy and manageable! We were more than thrilled as we opened the door and found the wonderfully appointed surroundings in such a remote location. The water taxi ride to the beach only added to the adventure for my friends - the captain spotted sea lions and sea otters for us to view. We arrived in a heavy rain storm and were overjoyed with unexpected sun to fish on the beach the next morning. The kitchen and BBQ let us eat fabulous meals without having to over pack with unnecessary cooking equipment or condiments. Jeff has thought of all the details - we made use of the in house stereo to hook up to our Ipod - loud music to dance till we dropped with no upset neighbors! Jeff had the fishing poles out and ready for us to use, complete with lures attached to the lines. We did not try the kayaks or paddles boards - hoping to do so the next trip. Sitting and watching the marine action coming and going, on occasions, from the port of Seward was also a treat. Perfect escape to unwind from a busy summer season! Or, for any reason!!!

Breathtaking - Authentic Alaska Experience

★★★★★

My boyfriend and I came up from California to visit friends in Seward and they said we had to stay at this lodge. I am incredibly grateful they found and booked this gem! What an amazing experience. The lodge is perched on top of a bluff overlooking the bay and has its own private beach. It is incredibly cozy inside with a wood fireplace, big kitchen, comfortable beds, and big picture windows that provide incredibly views no matter where you are at inside. This lodge is completely off the grid! Powered by the sun and all water is collected (and filtered!) on site. There is cell phone reception, which is surprising and quite useful! Staying at the lodge is the type of experience we Californians were hoping for. We wanted to be immersed in Alaska's beauty and we got it! I highly recommend booking this lodge for your next visit to the Seward area!

Miraculous!

★★★★★

Our time at Granite Point Mountain Lodge was an incredible experience. As residents of Alaska, my wife and I wanted a very special place to celebrate our anniversary. She described it as a place where it is "natural to just feel still." We spent our days relaxing on the beach, watching whales while cooking and dining, and exploring the magical creatures in the tide pools below the lodge. While the setting alone is worth the price, the lodge itself is a miracle of a build. The raw, rugged landscape plunges into Resurrection Bay, making building sites extremely difficult to access, clear, and supply. Anyone partially familiar with building a home will be left wondering how this building, atop a cliff on the bay, is even possible. But not only is it a reality, it's luxurious, warm and inviting. Details and touches highlight the craftsmanship and pride of ownership of the lodge. Our appreciation of Alaska's scenery has had time to acclimate in our decade together. Had we not, it is possible the beauty of Granite Point may have been overwhelming to our senses. We will find out this summer since I have already booked our next stay, this time with out-of-state guests!
